The Daylily House

We are the daylily house.  We have an inordinate amount of Stella d’Oro daylilies encircling our house.  Darling hubby always wants us to plant something else in addition to the lilies.  The daylily house was his nickname.  But, I have a found place in my heart for our Stellas.  Look at their sunshiny faces.

They are so easy.  Other than dividing them every 2-3 years when they get over-grown, they are maintenance free.  Who doesn’t love that?  And, they bloom like crazy.  Plus, I am a fan of the “Martha Stewart closely bunched flowers of all the same type” look.

We tried branching out last year, planting some Bella Lugosi daylilies (pictured below – not mine).  The idea was that the purple would help break up all of the yellow and that if one daylily was easy, they all would be – right?  Alas, they haven’t bloomed yet.

So, we remain the daylily house.  But, between you and me, I really don’t mind.

Love the name of your house! Ha. Sounds like the name of a happy house. I also think some purple mixed in would b e great, but lovely as is.

The purple would be a compliment to the yellow, but, yep, looks like a happy and attractive place!

I love the day lilies in the front but then again I love anything with the name lily in it. Plus yellow is such a warm and inviting color
